SANTA MARGHERITA, SAN FRUTTUOSO AND PORTOFINO – Day Hike + Sightseeing – Level EASY 1920 1280 TrekMI

A wonderful itinerary that develops between the Tigullio gulf and the promontory of Portofino, places of incredible natural beauty and charm. We leave the city of Milan and reach Santa Margherita Ligure after 2.5h. This beautiful seaside old-fashioned resort, with palm trees decorating the esplanade, will be our starting point for an exciting boat ride to San Fruttuoso. Accessible only from the sea or on foot, this tiny secluded bay of turquise water hides an ancient Benedectine monastery that dates back to the 10th century A.D. The perfect place to spend our lunch break before starting the hike to world-famous Portofino (2h). A panoramic and well-travelled itinerary that develops through the lush vegetation of this Regional Park. Portofino a prettily-painted charming fishing village has become a boutiquey stop-off for the yatching set and a tranquill not-to-be-missed place along this stretch of coastline. After spending some time enjoying its atmosphere, we catch our last boat ride back to Santa Margherita and from there we start our drive back to Milan.
