SAN MARTINO’S CHURCH AND BELLAGIO – Day Hike + Sightseeing – Level EASY

SAN MARTINO’S CHURCH AND BELLAGIO – Day Hike + Sightseeing – Level EASY 1024 683 TrekMI

The church of San Martino is without any doubt one of the best view points to admire Lake Como’s unique shape. Perched on an apparently unreachable ledge of limestone that overlooks the village of Griante, San Martino’s church rises right in front of the peninsula of Bellagio – the peninsula that separates the two southern branches, giving Lake Como the shape of a “standing man”.  Located at 475 m (1,560 ft), the church can easily be reached with an hike of about one hour. A good compromise for an amazing view!

Hiking to the church in the morning gives us the time to enjoy its peaceful atmosphere and then, back by the shore, to catch a ferry boat right in time to spend our lunch break in Bellagio! Bellagio, as beautiful as you imagine it, with its picture-perfect cobbled lanes, colorful houses and botanical gardens. Here we take the time to enjoy some good local food with lake view, discover some hidden corners and get to know all facts about this so called “pearl” of Lake Como.
